Campbell drops CAA opener to William & Mary, 34-24

The Camels dropped their season and conference opener on Thursday night.

BUIES CREEK – Campbell hung tough with the No. 4 team in the country for most of a half Thursday night before giving way down the stretch.

The Camels dropped a 34-24 decision to William & Mary in their Coastal Athletic Association and season opener.

Bronson Yoder rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns for the victorious Tribe. Quarterback Darius Wilson added 182 yards passing and two more scores.

Hajj-Malik Williams had an efficient night passing for Campbell, completing 22-of-26 passes for 226 yards and a 14-yard TD pass to VJ Wilkins. Lamagea McDowell bookended the game with 1-yard touchdown runs in the opening minutes and the final 46 seconds.

CJ Tillman lived around the football for the Camels, recording 19 tackles. Monchovia Gaffney and D’Marcus Harrington added 10 hits apiece.
