WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The elements were not a factor Saturday evening as the Winston-Salem State University football team shut out Bluefield State 30-0 Saturday evening inside Bowman Gray Stadium.
The Rams moved to 2-2 (2-0 CIAA), while Bluefield State is 1-3 (0-2 CIAA).
How It Happened
- Asa Barnes with an 11-yard run to give the Rams a 6-0 lead over Bluefield State. 11:30 to play in the first quarter.
- Rams forced a fumble, recovered by Camar Kyle who ran it back for 84 yards, the Rams led 13-0 with 14:40 to play in the second half.
- After a forced fumble from Damien Jones and recovered by Camar Kyle, Daylin Lee threw a 9-yard pass to RJ Mobley, extra point gave the Rams a 20-0 lead over Bluefield State, with 1:22 to play in the second quarter.
- Dante’ Bowlding had a pick-six and ran for 52 yards. The extra point gave the Rams a 27-0 lead with 1:34 to play in the third quarter.
- RJ Mobley caught the ball for a 56-yard reception which eventually led to a field goal attempt from Jobanni Esparza to secure the 30-0 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Noble Joyner had 10 tackles (4 solo).
- Damien Jones had six tackles and one force fumble.
- Jashan Rankin had one interception along with five tackles.
- Dante’ Bowlding had a pick-six for a 56-yard return for a touchdown.
- Camar Kyle had two fumble recoveries for 84 yards.
