For the second consecutive year, Elon University’s football team will play a 12-game schedule, highlighted by challenging non-conference opponents and a grueling eight-game CAA slate. The Phoenix face three in-state foes in non-conference action, including a renewed rivalry with Davidson. All four non-conference opponents posted winning records in 2024, underscoring the difficulty of Elon’s schedule.

Elon kicks off the season on Aug. 30 with a familiar challenge, traveling to face Duke for the second year in a row. The Blue Devils, who are set to compete in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, defeated Elon 26-3 in last year’s opener and hold a 9-0-1 all-time record against the Phoenix. This marks the fourth straight year Elon opens its season against a Power Four opponent.

Week two brings a long-awaited matchup as Elon hosts Davidson on Sept. 6. The Phoenix have won the last three meetings in the series, including a dramatic 26-23 victory in spring 2021. Davidson leads the all-time series 16-3, but this game represents just the third meeting since 1954.

The Phoenix continue their non-conference slate with a trip to Western Carolina on Sept. 13, followed by a road contest at East Tennessee State on Sept. 20. Both opponents defeated Elon in 2024, adding extra stakes to these matchups. East Tennessee will a new coach in 2025, former Charlotte boss Will Healy.

Elon’s CAA schedule begins at home against Hampton on Sept. 27 and includes games against perennial contenders like Villanova (Oct. 11) and Rhode Island (Nov. 8). Elon closes the season with a three-game stretch featuring Campbell, North Carolina A&T, and a bye week, providing opportunities to build late-season momentum.

The Phoenix will aim to build on their 6-6 record from 2024, which included a strong 5-3 mark in CAA play and a four-game win streak to close the season. Elon remains the only CAA program with five or more conference wins in each of the last four years.
