Charlotte future football schedules include SEC, ACC foes – and a lot of Appalachian State

49ers will play UNC, NC State, Georgia, Ohio State and Ole Miss – and the Mountaineers six times – over the next seven seasons

Future non-conference football opponents for Charlotte include NC State, UNC, App State, Ohio State, Georgia and Ole Miss.

Charlotte football will finish its first decade as an FBS program this season and continues to build an ambitious non-conference schedule as it heads toward decade number two.

The 49ers’ future football calendar will include non-conference dates against area foes NC State, North Carolina and Appalachian State as well as notable games against national powerhouse programs Georgia, Ohio State and Ole Miss.

Charlotte, which restarted its football program in 2013 and moved up to FBS in 2015, now plays in the American Athletic Conference (with East Carolina being a league rival every season). The Niners have four non-conference opponents set for 2025 and 2026, and at least one non-league game in place through 2031.

The 2025 campaign will kick off at Bank Of America Stadium, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, on Aug. 28. Charlotte will play in the Duke’s Mayo Classic against Appalachian State. That contest will begin a six-year run of games between the 49ers and Mountaineers that continues through 2030.

Charlotte also will host North Carolina and Monmouth next fall, plus will travel to Georgia on Nov. 22 for a showdown with the 2021 and 2022 national champions.

The 2026 campaign will bring a game against another SEC stalwart. Ole Miss will come to Charlotte on Sept. 12. The 49ers also will host The Citadel and will travel to App State and Louisville that season.

Charlotte will play a return game at Ole Miss in 2027 and will host Appalachian State. A road trip to Boone is the only current non-conference game on the 2028 schedule.

The 49ers go to Ohio State in 2029 and to NC State in 2030. The Wolfpack will come to Charlotte for a return game in 2031.

Non-conference opponents this season include James Madison and Gardner-Webb at home, as well as North Carolina and Indiana on the road.
