Two of the most electric playmakers in FCS football resided on rosters of North Carolina college football teams in 2024. Campbell’s Sincere Brown and Elon’s Chandler Brayboy head our FCS Stat Champions leaderboard in the pass-catching categories.
Brown, a senior transfer from South Florida, topped all North Carolina FCS wide receivers with 61 catches this past season for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns. Brayboy, a senior from Pembroke (Purnell Swett HS), made 59 catches, covering 979 yards. He scored eight touchdowns on pass plays.
Both Brown and Brayboy landed on the CAA’s first-team all-conference list as receivers.
Brown broke the Camels’ single-season record for most TD receptions. He ranked fourth nationally in TD receptions and 12th in receiving yards. Brayboy collected multiple All-American honors for his work as a kick returner (two return touchdowns) and all-purpose threat.
Brown, who announced in December his plans to return to Campbell for 2025, was the only 1,000-yard FCS receiver from the Old North State in 2024. Western Carolina’s AJ Colombo matched Brown’s receptions total (61) but didn’t cover as much ground (590 yards).
North Carolina Central’s Markell Quick had one of the best yards-per-catch averages among our state’s FCS performers (20.3). Davidson’s Brody Reina enjoyed a solid year for pass-catching tight ends, scoring six touchdowns in the Wildcats’ usually run-heavy offense.
Western Carolina’s De’Andre Tamarez had the best single-game receiving performance of the FCS season. He hauled in eight passes for 229 yards and a touchdown in a shootout loss at Montana in week four.
Brayboy – there is that name again! – had the second most receiving yards in a North Carolina FCS game, notching 183 on eight catches against Campbell in week 10. He scored a pair of touchdowns in that Elon victory.
Brown had a three-touchdown receiving game against Delaware State in week five. For the season, Brown racked up five 100-yard receiving games, most of any NC players.
Here are lists of the top FCS receiving performances of the 2024 campaign, both season leaders and single-game standouts.
