Gardner-Webb football adds non-conference series with Chattanooga to future schedules

Bulldogs will play Mocs in 2026 and 2030

Gardner-Webb coach Tre Lamb led the Bulldogs to a conference title and FCS playoff win a year ago.

Gardner-Webb continues to build out its future non-conference football schedules.

The Bulldogs, who compete at the FCS level in the Big South/OVC Football Association, have added dates against Chattanooga in 2026 and 2030, according to FBSchedules.com.

The 2026 game will be played in Boiling Springs, N.C., on Saturday, Sept. 19. The 2030 contest will be in Chattanooga on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Chattanooga competes in the FCS Southern Conference. The last meeting between the Bulldogs and Mocs came in 2003, a Gardner-Webb triumph.

Gardner-Webb has two non-conference opponents already set for next season, visiting James Madison and Charlotte in September. Road games at Western Carolina and Georgia Tech headline the 2025 slate, along with a home game against The Citadel. The Bulldogs will visit The Citadel in 2028.

Gardner-Webb has a tough non-conference slate this season, traveling to Appalachian State (Sept. 2) and East Carolina (Sept. 23) from the FBS, as well as facing Elon (home), Austin Peay (road) and Eastern Kentucky (home).

The Bulldogs have high expectations for 2023. Coach Tre Lamb’s squad, which won the Big South a year ago, is nationally ranked in all three major FCS polls – 25th in the STATS Perform preseason poll, 22nd in the HERO Sports preseason poll and 24th in the American Football Coaches Association poll.
