Shaw University has parted ways with head coach Adrian Jones, the school announced Tuesday afternoon.

Jones had been head coach of the Division 2 CIAA program since 2016. He posted an overall record of 35-45 in eight seasons, including a 29-28 mark in conference play.

His final team went 6-4, 4-3 in the CIAA and had some big wins, including a 38-35 triumph over rival Fayetteville State, a 43-40 non-conference triumph at Albany State and a 24-17 decision against a six-win Livingstone squad.

The school has not yet announced an interim coach. Shaw becomes the seventh school in North Carolina – and the second in the CIAA – to work through a coaching change this season.

Elizabeth City State, a rival CIAA school, dismissed Marcus Hilliard as head coach a few weeks ago.
