New Wingate football coach Rashaan Jordan officially announced his first recruiting class this week.
The NCAA Division II Bulldogs will welcome 56 new players to the program, with 24 coming from North Carolina, 15 from Georgia and 10 from South Carolina.
Jordan takes over for Joe Reich, who led the program for more than two decades. Other new prospects hail from Virginia, Illinois, New York and Ontario, Canada.
“We are super excited about this year’s class,” Jordan said in a release. “The staff did a great job finding quality football players and young men. I believe the staff did an excellent job finding players at the skill positions, while finding foundational players upfront on both sides of the ball.”
The Wingate staff inked 29 offensive players, 26 for defense and one special teams athlete. The Bulldogs are coming off an 8-3 season, barely missing out on the D2 playoffs. Wingate did beat 13-2 Lenoir-Rhyne during the regular season. The Bears went on to the national semifinals.
