CHARLOTTE – The Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association announces its participation in the inaugural Florida Beach Bowl. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, December 13, 2023 with a 7:30 p.m. ET kick off and will be played in the DRV PNK Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The game pairs two of the best teams in the CIAA and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
The game positions the CIAA and the SIAC for a bowl opportunity, after an 11-year hiatus
with the final Pioneer Bowl event being played in 2012.
“We are continuously evaluating ways to improve the CIAA experience for our student-athletes, alumni and fans! Adding new components like Florida Beach Bowl creates yet another opportunity for collaboration for our HBCU Conferences,” said Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams-Parker. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the Inaugural Florida Beach Bowl featuring two perennial HBCU Conferences – CIAA vs. SIAC. This opportunity is a long time coming for their first post-season matchup in nearly three decades. We are excited for the return of the post season competition.”
The game will be surrounded by auxiliary events like a 5K run, Celebrity Golf Tournament, Prayer Breakfast, Media Day, Coaches Luncheon and a Fan Festival & Game Day that are certain to drive engagement in the local community.
The Florida Beach Bowl offers an awesome opportunity that drives media to amplify the HBCU story and allows both conferences to partner with strategic sponsors to create something special for our institutions.
Participation in the Florida Beach Bowl shall be based on independent conference standings and availability. We are excited to create an electrifying atmosphere of black college football are ready to welcome our alumni and fans as we create a phenomenal first-year event in Florida.
