Fabulous 14: Top quarterbacks in North Carolina by the numbers

Catawba’s Preston Brown, Campbell’s Hajj-Malik Williams and UNC’s Drake Maye lead the state in QB stats

Catawba's Preston Brown, UNC's Drake Maye and Campbell's Hajj-Malik Williams are among the state's stat leaders at quarterback.

In terms of pure stats, Catawba’s Preston Brown continues to be the most prolific quarterback in North Carolina.

Brown leads the Old North State, all divisions, in total passing yards (1,718) and touchdowns (16) after week six. He is second behind UNC’s Drake Maye in yards per game, averaging 286.3. Maye, who has played one fewer game with the 5-0 Tar Heels, leads the state — by far — in yards-per-game, with 325.8.

Campbell’s Hajj-Malik Williams has the top overall completion percentage among North Carolina quaerterbacks. In six games, Williams is hitting on 74.2 percent of his passes, ahead of Davidson’s Coulter Cleland (73.8) and Maye (72.1).

Williams is fourth in all of Division I FCS in total passing yards. Brown is eighth for Division II players. Maye is 20th among FBS passers in total yardage.
