North Carolina's College Football Saturday Shakes Up Title Races, Shatters Records

Louisburg College puts 36 on academic honors list

Hurricanes enjoyed success on the field and in the classroom

Louisburg College football put 36 players on the NJCAA Region X All-Academic honors list for the fall 2023 semester.

To be named “All-Academic” student-athletes must participate in a sport which competes during the fall semester and achieve a 3.0 grade point average while passing 12 credit hours.

Twenty-nine schools were represented across all fall sports. Louisburg is the only school in Region X, which includes North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, to offer football. In all, Louisburg had 79 All-Academic selections, trailing only Spartanburg Methodist (82) in the region.

The Hurricanes football team went 5-4 this past season, including a three-game win streak in September.

Quinderra J. Spellman serves as head coach of the Hurricanes. Spring football will begin at Louisburg on March 5 and will continue through April 13. The ‘Canes have not yet announced their 2024 schedule.
