App State-Charlotte Season Opener Moved To Friday, Aug. 29

Duke’s Mayo Classic had originally been set for Thursday, Aug. 28

The date for the Duke’s Mayo Classic season opener between Appalachian State and Charlotte has been moved to Friday, Aug. 29, the schools announced Monday. The contest had originally been set for the day before, Thursday, Aug. 28.

The contest will be played at Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff time and TV designations will be announced at a later date.

Appalachian State owns a 3-0 series record against the 49ers, winning the most recent meeting 35-20 in Boone on September 12, 2020. The Mountaineers also prevailed 56-41 in 2019 and 45-9 in 2018.

Tickets to the Duke’s Mayo Classic game, if purchased through the App State ticket office, are expected to go on sale online to the public the week of April 7. Yosef Club members in good standing will be able to purchase tickets via a special presale starting Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. Visit the App State athletics web site for more details.

Charlotte season ticket holders who renewed by January 15 are currently able to take advantage of an exclusive pre-sale window for tickets to the game which begin at $50. UNC Charlotte students will have a special allotment of discounted tickets available for purchase beginning April 1. For more details, visit the 49ers website
