Barton College secured its first conference win of the season with a 27-13 victory over Anderson on Saturday at Truist Stadium in Wilson.
The Bulldogs (2-2, 1-1 South Atlantic Conference) snapped a two-game losing streak, led by a stellar performance from senior wide receiver Jayden Flood-Brown, who hauled in two long touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Trevor Nored.
Flood-Brown’s 69-yard touchdown reception opened the scoring late in the second quarter, and he added a 65-yard score in the third quarter, finishing with seven catches for 162 yards.
Nored threw for 289 yards, while running backs Dakauri Davis and Jackson Parrish added rushing touchdowns of nine and 12 yards, respectively, in the second half.
Anderson (2-2, 0-2) managed a highlight of its own when Jalon Warthen-Carr returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. However, Barton’s defense kept the Trojans in check, limiting them to just 80 yards passing and 251 total yards. Senior defensive back Dereck Barringer led the Bulldogs’ defense with 13 tackles and a sack.
Barton will travel to face Carson-Newman on Saturday, October 5, at 1 p.m.
