BREVARD, N.C. — Fresh off a six-win campaign and a third-place finish in the USA South Conference, Brevard College has released its 2025 football schedule — and it’s a slate designed to challenge early and reward late.
The Tornados will open the season at home Sept. 6 with a rematch against Kentucky Christian, a team they defeated 41-25 on the road to close out the 2024 season. It will mark the Knights’ first-ever visit to Ives-Lemel Family Field.
From there, Brevard will travel to Sewanee on Sept. 13 in the first-ever regular season meeting between the two programs. The non-conference slate wraps up at home on Sept. 20 with a 4 p.m. kickoff against Erskine, an NCAA Division II program and new member of the relaunched Conference Carolinas football league.
“Scheduled by design, the competition comes from a variety of levels: D-II, D-III, and NAIA,” Brevard coach Bill Khayat, entering his ninth season in charge of the Tornados program, said in an official release. “Facing this diversity of personnel strength and program identity will help to maximize our readiness for yet another year of stiff competition in the USA South.”
After a bye week, the Tornados dive into seven straight conference games, starting with an Oct. 4 road trip to Belhaven — a program they beat 42-26 last fall.
Circle These Dates
- Homecoming 2025 is set for Oct. 11 when Brevard hosts Southern Virginia at 3 p.m.
- Nov. 1 vs. Huntingdon could have championship implications, as the Hawks are perennial contenders and edged Brevard for second place in 2024.
- Senior Day arrives on Nov. 15 vs. North Carolina Wesleyan, a team that handed Brevard one of its two conference losses last fall.
Brevard’s 2025 schedule includes five home games, with three of the first five contests played at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
“Three of our first five matchups are at home, and the Tornado squad will be – as always – appreciative of the energy, enthusiasm and support present at Ives-Lemel Family Field,” Khayat said. “With the presence of the rousing and inspirational Nado Nation, Brevard College football plans to be off to a tremendous start.”
New Faces, Familiar Leaders
Quarterback Ethan Beamish is set to return after a breakout season in 2024, throwing for 2,093 yards and 25 touchdowns – tops among D3 quarterbacks in our state.
But Brevard will need new playmakers to step up following the graduation of two all-time greats: running back Chancellor Lee-Parker, who rushed for over 2,200 career yards, and wide receiver Zackary Orr, the school’s all-time leader in receptions (123), receiving yards (1,893) and touchdowns (19). Orr also contributed on special teams, returning both a punt and a kickoff for scores last season.
Defensively, lineman Robert Dorsey had a monstrous season, earning USA South defensive player of the year honors and grabbing a spot on the D3 all-region team. Dorsey made 14 tackles-for-loss and 11 sacks in 2024.
