Campbell’s 2026 recruiting class added a pair of key pieces this week, one on each side of the ball. The Camels secured verbal commitments from Robert McCullough, a rangy linebacker out of Southeast Raleigh High, and Quinn Mahoney, a record-setting quarterback from Bishop England High in South Carolina.

🛡️ Robert McCullough: Raleigh LB Brings Toughness and IQ

McCullough committed to Campbell on July 23, capping off a recruitment that included FBS offers from App State, Liberty, Charlotte, UMass and Troy, as well as multiple FCS suitors.

A 6-foot-3, 185-pound honor roll student, McCullough earned all-conference honors in 2024 after posting 64 tackles in 10 games. His impact went beyond the numbers: he tallied six tackles-for-loss, an interception, a sack and a fumble recovery, helping Southeast Raleigh to a 7-4 record, 4-3 in the Greater Neuse River Conference.

National recruiting analyst Tom Lemming offered high praise in his preseason report:

“A headhunter with excellent range, terrific speed to the ball and smart. Takes few missed steps and always seems to be in the right place at the right time.”

McCullough joins a Southeast Raleigh program that’s producing high-level talent across multiple classes. Running back Christian Freeman (2027) is committed to NC State, and defensive lineman Keysaun Eleazer (2026) pledged to Stanford earlier this year.

💪 Quinn Mahoney: South Carolina QB with Record-Breaking Season

Mahoney, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback who has recorded a 4.65 time in the 40, committed to Campbell on July 22, just weeks after receiving an offer from the Camels in early July.

The 2024 season marked his first at Bishop England High School, where he transferred after playing at Oceanside Collegiate. Mahoney made an instant impact — throwing for 2,451 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 469 yards and nine more scores. He led Bishop England to a dramatic turnaround, improving from 2 wins in 2023 to nine wins in 2024, while breaking three school records along the way.

Six Star Football was impressed with Mahoney’s development:

“A strong-armed, confident quarterback… with a college-ready frame and efficient throwing motion … At the Mercer camp, he showcased his ability to drop dimes in tight windows and manage the offense with confidence.”

Mahoney earned an offer from Kent State, while Central Michigan and Akron also expressed interest, but Campbell made a strong push in July and won out.

🔭 What’s Next

Campbell and coach Braxton Harris continues to build out its 2026 class with a clear focus on high-character, high-upside players who can make an impact on and off the field. McCullough adds toughness and instinct to the Camels’ future linebacker corps, while Mahoney could be a name to watch as a future contributor under center.
