It’s been a busy week for Campbell football. New quarterbacks. 2025 schedule release. A key wide receiver staying put.
The Camels announced the signing of two transfer quarterbacks over the past few days. The first, Kamden Sixkiller, comes to Buies Creek from McNeese State in Louisiana. The other, Jalen Ferguson – formerly of Lenoir-Rhyne – moves up from the Division II ranks and stays in state.
Whoever wins the starting QB job for the Camels in 2025 will have an experienced, explosive playmaker at their disposal. All-conference wide receiver Sincere Brown announced Thursday on social media that he will be returning to Campbell for another season.
Brown made 61 catches for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns this past fall. He ranked fourth nationally in TD receptions and 12th in receiving yards.
Sixkiller, from Norman, Okla. (Norman North HS), played in 10 games for McNeese in 2024, completing 85-of-160 passes for 928 yards, 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
Ferguson led Lenoir-Rhyne on back-to-back D2 playoff runs and a 2023 conference championship. He threw for 3,276 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2024, helping the Bears to a 10-3 record. He set a school record with 411 passing yards in a 37-34 playoff win over West Alabama. He leaves the Hickory school with more than 4,800 career passing yards and 36 passing TDs.
Campbell split quarterbacking duties this past season between redshirt senior Mike Chandler II and redshirt sophomore Chad Mascoe Jr. The Camels carried five quarterbacks on its 2024 roster, including redshirt freshman Alfredo Sotelo (Tucson, Ariz.) and freshmen Bryan Wilson (Corona, Calif.) and Jed West (Waynesville | Tuscola HS).
In addition to the two quarterback transfers, Campbell also added defensive lineman Justin Garza recently. Garza, from Brenham, Texas, last played at Blinn College. He made 52 tackles, earned 7.5 sacks and recorded 19.5 tackles-for-loss during the most recent JUCO season.
