Charlotte football and coach Tim Albin continue to build momentum on the 2026 recruiting trail — this time adding a dynamic quarterback from the Sunshine State. Jaylen White, a 6-1, 200-pound dual-threat from Clearwater High School (FL), announced his commitment to the 49ers on Friday.
White becomes the 49ers’ first quarterback pledge in the 2026 class and the 13th commit overall — joining a group that has picked up serious steam in recent weeks. White is also Charlotte’s first Florida-based commit in this class.
A smooth, athletic playmaker, White passed for 1,568 yards and 15 touchdowns last fall while completing 60 percent of his throws. He added 573 yards and nine scores on the ground, finishing with 2,141 total yards of offense. He’s been lighting it up this offseason too — totaling 430 yards in his spring game, including an eye-popping 268 rushing yards on just 11 carries, per his social media.
He excelled at a regional Elite 11 quarterback event in the Tampa area in April.
“White made it look easy during routes on air and footwork periods,” Prep Redzone Florida wrote following the Elite 11 combine. “He’s got a calm demeanor and was accurate throughout the day. Smooth thrower with the ability to keep play alive with his mobile athleticism. Quietly having one of the better off-seasons.”
Tampa Bay Football praised White as a “great leader,” calling his game “fluid and smooth,” and highlighting his ability to “move the chains at will.”
White was offered by Charlotte on May 13 and held more than a dozen offers, including Tulane, Georgia State, UAB, Arkansas State, Southern Miss and FIU. He enters his senior year as a team captain for Clearwater, where he’s already thrown for 3,415 yards and rushed for 1,053 in his career.
He is rated a three-star prospect by both On3 and Rivals.
