Maximus Jansenvanvuren, a three-star standout from Waterford, Mich., has become the first commitment of the Tim Albin coaching era at Charlotte.
Jansenvanvuren (6-5 | 260) announced his pledge to the 49ers on Monday. He chose Charlotte over offers from a host of MAC schools, including Albin’s former team, the Ohio Bobcats. He recently visited the 49ers and took in a spring practice session.
Jansenvanvuren plays on both sides of the ball for his Waterford Mott High School team. He appears headed for the defensive line at Charlotte but also plays tight end. The multi-faceted player was second-team all-conference in basketball as a sophomore in 2023-24.
Jansenvanvuren is listed as the No. 31 prospect in Michigan, according to 247Sports. He’s the No. 3 edge rusher in his home state.
Only Charlotte, East Carolina, USF and Memphis have known commitments from 2026. ECU’s lone 2026 pledge is wide receiver Jhalil Anderson from Washington, DC.
