Future Charlotte Football Opponents
Charlotte announced multiple changes to its 2026 slate as the 2025 season drew to a close. The 49ers’ game with Ole Miss has been moved from Charlotte to Oxford, MS and a contest at Louisville scheduled for Sept. 26, 2026 has been canceled. That leaves the Niners with an open date to fill for ’26.
2026: The Citadel (Sept. 5), at Ole Miss (Sept. 12), at Appalachian State (Sept. 19)
2027: at Ole Miss (Sept. 4), Elon (Sept. 11), Appalachian State (Sept. 18)
2028: Charleston Southern (Sept. 2), at Appalachian State (Sept. 16)
2029: Wofford (Sept. 1), at Ohio State (Sept. 8), Appalachian State (Sept. 15), at James Madison (Sept. 22)
2030: Western Carolina (Aug. 31), at NC State (Sept. 7), Appalachian State (TBA)
2031: NC State (Sept. 6)

The American Conference has already released league pairings for the 2026 season, with each team playing four conference home games and four conference away games. Charlotte is set to host East Carolina, Memphis, Navy and Tulane. The Niners will travel to UAB, North Texas, Temple and Tulsa. The full American Conference schedule will be released in February 2026, per the league.
