Cody Taylor, a 6-3, 310-pound offensive lineman from Greenwood, Arkansas, has committed to Charlotte football, choosing the 49ers over a long list of Power Five programs — including multiple SEC schools.
A three-year starter for the storied Greenwood Bulldogs, Taylor helped anchor one of the most dominant offenses in the state. He racked up 70 pancake blocks in 2024 and has surrendered just one-half sack in more than 2,200 career snaps. Greenwood has won back-to-back 6A state championships and owns a 26-game win streak heading into Taylor’s senior season.
“It has been such a blessing being able to be a part of the recruiting process,” Taylor wrote in his commitment post on X this weekend. “The endless camps, visits, and practices I have been to have allowed me to grow not only as a player but as a person. I’m beyond thankful for every coach who believed in me, every teammate who pushed me, and every opportunity that shaped me along the way … The work does not stop here. Let’s get to work Charlotte! #GoNiners”
Taylor is rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked as the No. 11 overall player in Arkansas. He chose Charlotte following his official visit this weekend, turning down reported offers from Ole Miss, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Appalachian State, Memphis, Liberty, and others.
Charlotte now has 14 known commits for its 2026 class – the first full high school class for new coach Tim Albin. The 49ers have been on a roll so far in June, getting five pledges from players from four different states, including Clearwater (FL) quarterback Jaylen White.
