Brevard’s football team will return one of its defensive anchors this season, junior lineman Robert Dorsey.
Today’s North Carolina Football News player spotlight will focus on the all-conference standout, who led NCAA Division III in forced fumbles a year ago.

2023 Highlights: Forced five fumbles in nine games, tied for most in NCAA Division III with Brian Pitt of Benedictine (Ill.) … Two other D3 players forced five fumbles (including Guilford’s Joey Strong Jr.) but they did it over the course of 10 contests…
Forced a pair of fumbles against both Warner (Sept. 2) and Southern Virginia (Oct. 7) … Had a tackle-for-loss in seven of the Tornados’ games.
One of five All-USA South Athletic Conference players from Brevard and one of two who made first team. Dorsey finished 2023 with 38 total tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss and five sacks.
Prior To Brevard: Played for the Union College Bulldogs, an NAIA program, in 2022. He appeared in eight games, with 30 tackles (24 solos), two sacks, 8.5 tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble.
Dorsey and the Tornados will get a late start to the regular season. Brevard doesn’t kick off its 2024 campaign until Saturday, Sept. 14 when Hampden-Sydney visits western North Carolina. The ‘Nados will play a 10-game schedule this season, including eight USA South conference contests. The 2024 slate includes games against three other D3 teams from North Carolina: Greensboro, Methodist and North Carolina Wesleyan.
