💪 Wofford Picks Up Versatile Lineman from Swain County

Swain County High School two-way standout Drew Scaggs announced his commitment to Wofford College after a June visit to the Spartanburg, S.C. campus.

Scaggs, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive and defensive lineman, boasts a 4.36 GPA and was an All-Smoky Mountain Conference selection for the Maroon Devils. He was also named to an All-Western North Carolina honors team after a breakout junior season.

College interest came early for the rising junior. Scaggs held offers from East Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri State and Lenoir-Rhyne. He drew attention from Coastal Carolina, Charlotte and James Madison beginning last fall and was invited to Wake Forest’s Junior Day in the spring.. His X feed features numerous posts highlighting shoutouts from the Coastal staff.

Swain County, long one of the 1A stalwarts in the Smoky Mountain Conference, will jump to 2A this fall under the NCHSAA’s new eight-classification system. The Maroon Devils, coached by Sherman Holt, kick off the 2025 season on Friday, Aug. 22 at 5A opponent Smoky Mountain High School.

🦅Elon Adds Georgia Defensive Back Rishon Postell

Elon and coach Tony Trisciani continued to build its defensive pipeline with a July 8 commitment from Rishon Postell, a 6-0, 185-pound defensive back from Banneker High School in College Park, Georgia.

Postell posted 56 tackles, three interceptions, five pass breakups and a fumble recovery during his junior campaign and has since transferred from Dutchtown High to Banneker for his senior season.

His offer list featured several FBS and FCS options, including App State, Old Dominion, Air Force, and Ivy League schools such as Penn, Yale, Dartmouth and Cornell. Postell also picked up offers from Colgate, Austin Peay, Wofford, Lehigh and others before choosing Elon following an official visit June 16–18.

Elon now holds 12 known commitments for its Class of 2026, per social media tracking.
