Greensboro College football is bringing back one of its all-time greats — but this time, he’ll be on the sideline in a coaching role.
Former Pride linebacker Max Steele, the program’s career leader in total tackles, has joined the coaching staff for the 2025 season as an assistant working with outside linebackers.
A two-time first team All-USA South Conference selection (2023 & 2024), Steele finished his playing career with 381 tackles, 36 tackles-for-loss and six sacks. He anchored the Pride defense for four seasons and was known for his consistency, leadership and physical play.
Steele (Julian, NC | Southeast Guilford HS), joins a Greensboro program looking to build momentum under head coach Tyler Card.
The Pride open their 2025 season on Saturday, Sept. 6 against crosstown rival Guilford College. The contest kicks off at 7 p.m. at Guilford. The home opener will be the following Saturday, Sept. 13 at noon against Roanoke.
