The Guilford College football team has forfeited its final game of the 2025 season after a postgame fight broke out following Saturday’s 27-21 loss to Averett University, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced Sunday.

Following a review, conference officials determined the altercation “does not uphold the standards of sportsmanship, respect, and conduct expected within the ODAC.”

Guilford was scheduled to visit Bridgewater College this Saturday (Nov. 15), while Averett was set to host Roanoke College. Bridgewater and Roanoke may play each other instead, completing their 10-game seasons, the conference said.

“Sportsmanship and respect are essential elements of the ODAC experience,” Brad Bankston, ODAC commissioner, said in a statement. “While competition is at the heart of what we do, the integrity with which we compete defines who we are. The actions following Saturday’s contest did not reflect those values, and this decision underscores our commitment to maintaining the standards our conference represents. I want to thank both schools for their cooperation and open dialogue in reaching this decision

Guilford’s final record for 2025 will be 2-7, 1-6 in ODAC play. The Quakers lost their last four games. Wins came against Methodist and Gallaudet.
