Havelock running back LeBron Sharpe, who has compiled more than 2,800 career rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, has committed to North Carolina Central.

The 5-9, 185-pound senior announced his intentions on social media on Sunday. Sharpe chose the Eagles, who compete in the FCS MEAC, over offers from James Madison, Army and Air Force. He has a 3.59 GPA.

Havelock competes in the 3A Coastal Conference and went 13-1 a year ago. The Rams are off to a 2-0 start after commanding wins over Wallace-Rose Hill (51-14) and Laney (46-15). Sharpe rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns against Wallace-Rose Hill. He added 144 yards and another score against Laney.

For the season, he’s averaging 6.4 yards per carry and 108.9 yards per contest.

Last season, Sharpe tallied 1,486 yards and 18 scores, eclipsing the 100-yard mark in eight different contests. Havelock remained undefeated until the third round of the playoffs when Northern Nash stopped their run.
