High school commit tracker: Feb. 4 update

Updates on NC high school players who have committed to college programs

National Signing Day for high school football prospects is Feb. 7.

College football’s national signing day is Wednesday, Feb. 7. Here are players from North Carolina high schools who have recently announced their college commitments.

Evan Kuehnel (Elon | Western Alamance HS)

Kuehnel (4.48 GPA) was already taking college classes back in the fall. Soon, the prep senior will be joining workouts as a college quarterback with Gardner-Webb’s program in Boiling Springs. He announced his commitment on Sunday, Feb. 4. The Runnin’ Bulldogs recently hired Cris Reisert as its new head coach.

Kuehnel was a team captain for Western Alamance football (and also serves as a captain in lacrosse). He threw for 1,897 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2023, per MaxPreps, and has more than 3,300 career passing yards at the varsity level at Western Alamance.

Latrell Wilson (Greensboro | Dudley HS)

The 6-0, 210-pound middle linebacker/outside linebacker released his college plans on Twitter on Sunday. He has committed to Shaw University from the CIAA. Wilson, per MaxPreps.com, recorded 81 solo tackles during his senior season and contributed 142 total stops – in the top 400 nationally. He averaged 9.5 tackles per game.

Ian Gallimore (Mount Airy | Mount Airy HS)

The 5-11, 190-pounder, who played quarterback and linebacker for the 1A state champion Granite Bears, will sign with Washington & Lee this Wednesday. Gallimore threw for 3,369 yards and 42 touchdowns in three seasons as QB at Mount Airy. He rushed for another 1,067 yards and 19 TDs.

Tristian Williams (Shallotte | West Brunswick HS)

The quarterback/outside linebacker announced this weekend that he is committing to North Carolina Wesleyan.

Miles Parker (Jacksonville | Jacksonville HS)

The 6-4, 255-pound defensive end/defensive tackle has committed to East Carolina, he announced on social media. Parker had 72 tackles in nine games this past season, averaging eight per contest. He recorded 10 tackles-for-loss and seven sacks.

Lewis “Tank” Green (Winston-Salem | North Forsyth)

The 5-10, 200-pound running back announced on social media that he is committing to Division II Catawba from the South Atlantic Conference. Green rushed for 975 yards as a senior at North Forsyth (per MaxPreps.com), averaging six yards per carry and scoring five touchdowns. He had six 100-yard games on the season.

Ny’tavious Huskey (Shelby | Crest HS)

The three-year starting quarterback has announced a commitment to Division II Livingstone of the CIAA. “I chose to commit to Livingstone because of the coaches, they believe in me and it feels like family [here]” Huskey said in a release. “It’s a privilege to play HBCU football at Livingstone college.”

Huskey led Crest to the 3A West semifinals as a senior. He finished with 3,663 passing yards for his career and 45 passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 623 yards and seven more scores.

Ty Miller (Mocksville | Davie County HS)

The dual-threat quarterback verbally committed to Arkansas State from the Sun Belt Conference on Feb. 1. A team captain and all-conference performer, Miller threw for 3,131 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior, per MaxPreps. He has more than 5,000 career passing yards as a varsity quarterback.

Ash Boa-Amponsem (Durham | Jordan HS)

The 6-0, 180-pounder, who played defensive back and wide receiver, won’t have to relocate too far to play college ball. He announced his commitment to North Carolina Central. Jordan finished 8-4 this past season.

Julian Littleton (Durham | Jordan HS)

Like teammate Ash Boa-Amponsem, Littleton declared this week that has committed to North Carolina Central. Littleton started his career at South Garner but played his final season for Jordan. He played in all 12 games in 2023, finishing with 1,988 passing yards and 25 touchdowns.

Hudson Wilharm (Wilmington | Hoggard HS)

The starting quarterback for the 4A Vikings, who advanced to the state title game in December, announced via social media that he has committed to the University of North Carolina. Wilharm set the school’s single-season passing record in 2023 (2,857 yards).

Chris Kinsey (Clayton | Clayton HS)

The standout defensive lineman, who earned all-state status from HighSchoolOT.com recently announced that he is committing to North Carolina A&T. Kinsey recorded 17 tackles for loss as a senior. He had seven sacks and blocked a field goal.

Jason Smith (Wilmington | Hoggard HS)

The offensive lineman posted Friday that he was changing his commitment: “After lots of thoughts, prayers and talks with friends, family, coaches, teammates and most importantly God. I have decided to decommit from Air Force and commit to UNC. Go Heels!” Smith wrote on Twitter/X.

J’Mari Parker (Charlotte | Independence HS)

The 6-3, 275-pound senior offensive lineman announced via social media in late January that he has committed to Catawba. Independence went 11-4 this past season, winning four playoff games at the 4A level.

D’Marcus Harrington (Hamlet | Richmond Senior HS)

The defensive back, previously at Campbell, will transfer to UNC Pembroke. Harrington made 38 tackles and picked off a pass for the Camels in 2023.
