Louisburg College’s seventh victory of the season may have been its most impressive, at least from a statistical standpoint.

The Hurricanes overwhelmed Brevard’s JV team 60-0 on Sunday afternoon in the high country.

Louisburg forced eight turnovers, collecting five fumble recoveries and making three interceptions. The ‘Canes recorded 14 tackles-for-loss and six sacks.

Brevard’s JV unit finished with 12 total yards, including minus -69 yards net rushing on 31 attempts. The Tornados did not pick up a first down.

The ‘Canes, who improved to 7-2, grabbed a 27-0 lead after the first period, notched another touchdown before the break, then tacked on 26 more points after intermission.

Louisburg College remains ranked No. 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III national rankings. This is the highest the Hurricanes have ever been ranked in that poll.

Jaden Perkins helped lead the defensive onslaught with nine tackles. Jah’keevi Garnett had five stops and a team-high 3.5 tackles-for-loss for 12 negative yards. He also had an eight-yard sack. Chea Scott wrangled a Brevard ball-carrier for a 17-yard loss. Kamal Thomas had an 11-yard sack.

Jaden Martin-Burgess returned an interception 58 yards. Preston Young and Letraskey Pressley also had picks. Pressley made seven tackles on the day, with two hits behind the line of scrimmage.

Keaton Braddock returned a fumble 42 yards and had one tackle-for-loss. Chea Scott, Lamarion Witherspoon, Tycorien Gist and Mondell Hutto also covered up footballs dropped by the Tornados.

Offensively, Dylan Trevillian threw touchdown passes to Jeffrey McDonald and Rashid Jones. McDonald’s TD play covered 74 yards.

Qwauhtez Harley earned a pair of rushing touchdowns, while Evan Garrett, Jerell Reddick and Jameson Prince each found the end zone once on running plays. Jesse Viens booted six extra points and averaged 37.0 yards on five punts.

Louisburg, which has won three games in a row, is schedule to face Nassau Community College this Saturday at 3 p.m. The game will be held at Potomac Senior High in Virginia. Quinderra Spellman coaches the Hurricanes program, the only junior college football team in the Old North State.
