Elon’s Landen Clark, one of the most dynamic young quarterbacks in FCS football in 2025, has decided to enter the transfer portal, according to multiple reports. The redshirt freshman from Radford, Va., earned CAA Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year honors this past fall, helping the Phoenix to a 6-6 mark, 4-4 in league play.
Clark’s resume should be attractive to FBS teams looking for a dual-threat signal caller for 2026:
- Completed 155 of 277 passes for 2,321 yards (sixth most in the CAA)
- Rushed for 614 yards on 189 attempts
- Accounted for 29 total touchdowns (18 passing, 11 rushing), second most in Elon program history
- Ranked fourth in the CAA in total offense (2,935 yards)
- Broke Elon’s single-season, FCS-era rushing TD record
- Earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors three times
Clark had his first big breakout in game two of the season against Davidson, throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for another. He guided Elon to a comeback win at Western Carolina the following week, rushing for two scores and throwing for 305 yards and two more TDs.
Clark finished the season strong, completing a 96-yard touchdown pass in the waning moments to beat Campbell and then accounting for six scores in a rout of NC A&T in the finale, including an 86-yard rushing TD. He even recorded a 52-yard punt against A&T.

Clark was named a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award late last month. The award, named after NFL Hall-of-Fame receiver Jerry Rice, honors the freshman of the year at the FCS level. Clark, a redshirt freshman, is one of six quarterbacks on the 2025 finalist list.
Clark is the second notable Elon standout to announce plans to transfer once the portal opens on Jan. 2, 2026. Defensive end Kahmari Brown, who broke Elon’s single-season sacks record (12) this fall, also made it public his intentions to explore transfer options.
A number of other notable FCS offensive standouts have announced transfer plans, including record-setting Western Carolina quarterback Taron Dickens, WCU wide receivers James Tyre and Malik Knight, Gardner-Webb receiver Chris Lofton and Campbell wideout Randall King.
We’re compiling (as best we can), a North Carolina FCS Transfer Portal Tracker, including the latest names and updates of players coming and going from Elon, Campbell, Davidson, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central and Western Carolina.
