Methodist University released its 2024 football schedule on social media over the weekend.
The Monarchs will play a 10-game slate this coming season and will face each of North Carolina’s other four Division III programs — Guilford, Greensboro, North Carolina Wesleyan and Brevard.
Methodist went 2-8 a year ago, 2-5 against USA South conference foes.
The season will begin Saturday, Sept. 7 against visiting Shenandoah from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Monarchs will face another ODAC squad the next Saturday, taking the trip from Fayetteville to Greensboro to face Guilford.
Conference play begins Sept. 21. Methodist will host Greensboro, Huntingdon, Southern Virginia and Belhaven during league play, and will travel to LaGrange, North Carolina Wesleyan, Maryville and Brevard. The Monarchs’ bye week is Nov. 9, the next-to-last Saturday of the regular season.
Methodist’s wins last season came against Southern Virginia and LaGrange. The Monarchs lost a nailbiter against Greensboro, 27-21, in the 2023 finale.
Keven Williams has been the head coach at Methodist since 2016. The Monarchs have been solid in recent years after posting a 5-5 record in 2022, a 7-2 mark in 2021 and a 4-1 tally during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.
