Let the fun begin.

June 15 marks the first day college football coaches can officially contact rising juniors — and North Carolina’s Class of 2027 is already making national noise.

To kick off this next chapter in recruiting coverage, NC Football News is proud to unveil its first statewide composite rankings for the 2027 class.

This list combines evaluations from 247Sports, Rivals, On3 and ESPN, averaging player rankings from all four major recruiting outlets to offer a balanced look at the state’s top prospects. If a player wasn’t ranked by a particular outlet, we assigned them the next available number after the last ranked player to keep the system consistent.

So far, no rising junior in North Carolina has publicly committed to a college program, but these top level prospects already are loading up on offers. Things could change quickly in the days and weeks ahead, especially now with the contact period opening. This is where the trail begins. Who will be the first to commit?

👉 Take me to the full rankings list!

🔍 Early Analysis: Who’s Leading the Pack?

👑 No. 1 Rashad Streets (Millbrook) is the clear-cut top player in North Carolina — and already one of the most coveted prospects in the country. He’s ranked No. 43 nationally by 247Sports, No. 55 by On3, and No. 145 by Rivals.

His sophomore season was outrageous: 36.5 tackles for loss and 26.5 sacks — video-game numbers that has helped him draw more than dozen Division I offers already, including UNC, NC State and Charlotte. With elite size (6-4, 230), production, and upside, Streets is shaping up to be one of the nation’s premier edge prospects in the 2027 class.

🌍 National Radar: Streets isn’t alone. Three other North Carolina prospects are currently ranked in the Top 100 nationally by 247Sports:

  • Xavier Hasan (Cardinal Gibbons) – No. 45
  • Nate Kamba (Corvian Community) – No. 80
  • Jaxon Dollar (East Lincoln) – No. 93

Hasan and Dollar also sit inside the Top 100 on On3, ranked No. 59 and No. 87 respectively. Jalaythan Mayfield (Lincolnton) also cracks On3’s top 100 at No. 58, while Kamba is just outside the threshold at No. 103. Overall, 13 North Carolina players appear in On3’s Top 300 for the Class of 2027 — a strong showing this early in the cycle. Eleven make ESPN’s Junior300.

🧱 Trench Watch: Defensive linemen dominate the top half of the rankings, with Kamba (No. 6), Andrew Rogers (No. 8), and Jayden Broadie (No. 11) among the elite with Streets. Nearly one-third of the Top 20 players are EDGE/DL types — a familiar strength in the Old North State.

🏃‍♂️ Rolesville Reloaded: No fewer than four players from RolesvilleMarquis Bryant, Amir Brown, Jayden Broadie and Anthony Roberts — made the Top 15. It’s an early sign that the Rams, last year’s 4A runners-up behind Grimsley, are building one of the most loaded rising junior classes in the state — and could be the team to beat in the new 8A classification. Millbrook and Providence Day also have four players in these initial rankings. Southern Durham has three.

📍Statewide Depth: From Charlotte to Greensboro to Raleigh to small-town standouts like St. Pauls’ Antwan McKoy (No. 17) and Lincolnton’s Jalaythan Mayfield (No. 4), the early list reflects strong regional balance — and rising talent across every level of competition.

📚 Program Note: These rankings will be updated regularly as new film, offers and national evaluations roll in. We’ll also be keeping tabs on the first wave of summer commitments — as the Class of 2027 heats up in a hurry. Who will be the first to make their collegiate pledge?
