North Carolina A&T, Elon and Campbell released their 2024 football schedules Wednesday morning. The three CAA members each will play 12 games this season: four non-conference tilts and eight league contests.
A&T will kick things off Thursday, Aug. 29 with a visit to Wake Forest. Elon will travel to Duke the following evening, while Campbell will begin the Braxton Harris coaching era on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Liberty.
North Carolina A&T Aggies (1-10 in 2023)
A&T’s 2024 slate will include five in-state schools, four HBCUs and four teams that made the FCS playoffs this past season. The Aggies welcome Winston-Salem State from the CIAA back to the schedule Sept. 7. The annual Aggie-Eagle Classic against North Carolina Central will be played in Durham this year on Sept. 21.
The Central game will be the first leg of a three-game road trip: to South Carolina State (Sept. 28) and to Richmond (Oct. 5).
The “Greatest Homecoming on Earth” will come the weekend of Oct. 19 when Hampton visits Aggieland.

Campbell Camels (5-6 in 2023)
The early part of the schedule could make the Camels homesick. Campbell plays its first three games on the road: at Liberty, at Western Carolina (Sept. 7) and at Rhode Island (Sept. 14) to open conference play.
A three-game home stand follows next, with a contest against North Carolina Central (Oct. 5) coming on the third leg. Home conference opponents include Stony Brook, A&T, Richmond and Towson.
Like last season, Campbell will face four opponents for the first time in football. The Camels were 4-4 in their CAA debut, marking the first team since Old Dominion in 2011 to win at least four league games in their inaugural season in the conference.

Elon Phoenix (6-5 in 2023)
For the second consecutive season, the Phoenix will tackle an ACC opponent in week one. Last season, Elon opened at Wake Forest on a Thursday night. This season, they’ll be new Duke coach Manny Diaz’s first foe.
After a visit to North Carolina Central on Sept. 7, the Phoenix will play four straight in the friendly confines of Rhodes Stadium, hosting Western Carolina, East Tennessee State (now coached by former Gardner-Webb chief Tre Lamb), Richmond and New Hampshire. Elon and WCU have played 43 times in their history but this season’s match-up will be the first since 2013.
Elon’s first trip outside the state will be a visit to UAlbany on Oct. 19. UAlbany was an FCS semifinalist this past season and finished 11-4.
Campbell will serve as Elon’s homecoming opponent on Nov. 2. The Phoenix will celebrate Senior Day on Nov. 16 against Maine and will hold Family Weekend when Richmond is in town Sept. 28.

More on the CAA Schedule
From CAASports.com: CAA Football has announced its schedule for the 2024 season, which will be played over 13 weeks and includes 12 games for the first time since 2019. In addition to the extended schedule, the CAA expands to 16 teams for the first time in conference history with the addition of Bryant University.
The conference slate includes four home games and four road contests for each team. Each team was paired with one preferred partner and regional proximity was an important factor in determining the remaining opponents. Limiting air travel to reduce costs was a priority, with most teams not having more than one flight during conference play.
