North Carolina A&T football is taking a bold approach with its non-conference scheduling over the next decade.
The Aggies recently added the University of North Carolina to its 2028 schedule. A&T will visit Chapel Hill on Sept. 16 of that year, with the possibility for that game being moved to “Week 0” of the season (pre-Labor Day) if a deal can be worked out to show the contest on a national TV outlet.
NC A&T played UNC during the 2015 campaign, falling 53-14 in Chapel Hill in 2015. The Aggies have faced Duke three times in the past four seasons, dropping a 49-20 decision a year ago in Durham. They beat East Carolina 28-23 in the 2018 opener on their way to a 10-win season.
A&T will play three of the state’s “Big Four” ACC teams over the next six years – visiting Wake Forest in 2024 and NC State in 2027. The Aggies also have reigning national champion Georgia on the calendar, penciled in for September 2030.
One constant on A&T’s non-league schedule for the foreseeable future: NC Central.
The historic Aggie-Eagle Classic will be Sept. 9 this season in Greensboro, on Sept. 21 next year and Sept. 20 in 2025. The rivals are set to meet every season through at least 2030. The 2027 game will be played in Charlotte as part of the Duke’s Mayo Kickoff Classic at Bank of America Stadium.
Other future non-conference opponents for A&T, per FBSchedules.com, are UAB (2023), Norfolk State (2023, 2026, 2027), Winston-Salem State (2024), Furman (2025) and Georgia State (2026).
The Aggies have transitioned into a more competitive FCS conference for this season, joining the Coastal Athletic Association. The CAA boasts five teams ranked in Stats Perform FCS preseason top-25.
NOTE: Three North Carolina schools in addition to A&T have Georgia on their future schedules: Charlotte (2025), Western Carolina (2031) and NC State (2033, 2034).
