The third round of the North Carolina high school football playoffs are in the books. Five games were completed on Thursday night, while the rest of the schedule played out on Friday.
All of the No. 1 seeds are still alive. No. 23 Independence scored the biggest upset of round three, knocking off No. 2 Watauga in the 4A West bracket. No. 7 Shelby upset No. 2 Salisbury in the 2A West.
The 2A East featured a pair of high-scoring games: Nash Central outlasted Hertford County 71-68, while Northeastern topped Princeton 62-53.
