NC High School Football Playoffs: All top seeds advance past second round

All four NCHSAA classifications now down to 16 teams

The second round of the NCHSAA football state playoffs will begin on Thursday, Nov. 9 and will continue on Nov. 10.

The second round of the North Carolina High School football state playoffs wrapped up Friday night, and all schools with a No. 1 or No. 2 seed beside their name advanced. Every No. 3 seed except for one has moved on as well. Only three No. 4 seeds have been eliminated.

Here is a recap of each bracket (check below for all of the final scores from Nov. 9-10 games):

4A East

  • Winners: Rolesville, Fuquay-Varina, Cardinal Gibbons, Clayton, Hoggard, Laney, New Bern and Cleveland.
  • Lowest remaining seeds: (1) Rolesville, (2) Cleveland, (3) Hoggard, (5) Cardinal Gibbons
  • Highest remaining seeds: (25) Fuquay-Varina, (13) Clayton, (11) Laney, (10) New Bern

4A West

  • Winners: Weddington, Charlotte Catholic, Hough, Grimsley, Mount Tabor, Butler, Independence, Watauga
