The 2025 NCHSAA 7A football playoffs may not feature the state’s very largest schools, but this could be the deepest and strongest field. Grimsley, last year’s 4A state champion, enters the post-season unbeaten, ranked in the national top 20 and owner of the top seed in the West. Other powerhouses such as Cardinal Gibbons, Cleveland, Weddington and Independence make 7A one of the toughest brackets in North Carolina. Cardinal Gibbons is the No. 1 seed in the East. Cleveland and Weddington hold the No. 2 seeds.
