Former Mars Hill linebacker Landon Honeycutt has been signed by the Cleveland Browns on the eve of the first full weekend of NFL preseason games.

Honeycutt (6-2, 231) participated in the Browns mini-camp this past spring as an undrafted free agent. He will wear No. 35 for the Browns, who play their first preseason game Saturday against Green Bay.

Cleveland released an official depth chart on Monday, before Honeycutt’s signing. The Browns listed eight linebackers on the roster.

Honeycutt, from Mount Pleasant (Mount Pleasant HS), earned second-team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association after the 2023 season. He finished with 107 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss and 5.5 sacks.

He was voted South Atlantic defensive player of the year following the 2022 campaign. Overall, he was a three-time D2 all-region and all-conference first-team performer.

He started 45 games for Mars Hill over five seasons, accumulating 370 tackles (150 solo hits), 44.5 tackles-for-loss, 18 sacks, four forced fumbles and two interceptions.
