North Lincoln all-conference middle linebacker Ryan Bassani has committed to Davidson College.

The senior announced his decision on social media just hours before the Wildcats kicked off Saturday’s night game against Point University.

Bassani (5-11, 190 pounds) recorded a whopping 189 tackles last season in 12 games for North Lincoln — 96 solo stops and 93 assists, according to MaxPreps.com. That number (an average of 15.8 tackles per game) ranked first in North Carolina and 27th nationally. He also had 19 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles.

Bassini earned all-conference honors in 2022 and 2023. He is averaging 13.0 tackles and 2.0 sacks per game for North Lincoln so far this season. He also has one interception. North Lincoln beat East Rutherford 56-55 on Thursday night to improve to 3-0.

Bassani also had an offer from Gardner-Webb. He boasts a GPA of 4.28. Davidson competes at the Division I FCS level in the Pioneer Football League.

“I committed (to Davidson) because I loved the atmosphere at the games, the attitude all the coaches had about the program and the hospitality that I have received from all the coaches,” Bassani told NC Football News.
