Florida high school football prospect Tanner Waring received an offer from Davidson College on July 1. He camped with the Wildcats three weeks later and announced a verbal commitment to join the program earlier this week.
It’s been quite a month. Waring (6-0, 190) made his announcement on social media this past Tuesday. The rising senior is from Mount Plymouth, Fla. and plays wide receiver, safety and punter for Class 3A Mount Dora High.
On the receiving front, he hauled in 36 receptions a year ago for 651 yards and six touchdowns, according to MaxPreps stats. Over three varsity seasons, Waring has compiled 1,295 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns.
He has 30 career tackles on the defensive end. He punted 12 times a year ago for a 37.1 yards-per-kick average and averaged 41.5 yards on four kickoff returns.
Waring boasts a weighted GPA of 4.7.
“Tanner has worked incredibly hard and has been a key player for us,” his coach, Luke Hutchinson, said in a story for lakeandsumterstyle.com. “His dedication on and off the field has been outstanding.”
