Became only the second Elon back since the school moved to FCS to earn 1,000 yards in a season – and he did it by the 10th game of the year. Other honors included third-team All-Colonial Athletic Association and fourth-team All-CAA by Phil Steele …

“He’s strong. He can make you miss,” Richmond coach Russ Huesman said prior to last season’s meeting with Elon. “I don’t see one guy bringing him down by himself very often, if ever. I’m not sure why he didn’t play at Tech. He looks like an ACC back.”

Hampton scored the winning touchdown in double overtime. He finished the 30-27 victory with 93 rushing yards.
