Class: Redshirt Junior

Measurables: 6-2, 180 pounds

Hometown: Portsmouth, Va.

High School/Previous School: I.C. Norcom/Kansas University

Notes: Initially transferred to the University of South Carolina after playing at Kansas for a year in 2020. He spent time as a first-team cornerback during spring drills before opting to leave the Gamecocks for NC A&T. “Hopefully this shows the youngins, there’s nothing wrong with an hbcu and they’ll find you wherever you go. Let’s make our hbcu’s great again #AggiePride,” Prunty posted on Twitter when he announced his decision to become an Aggie …

Had a breakout first season at A&T in 2022, starting in 10 games and earning first-team all-Big South honors at defensive back. He picked off four passes, had three pass breakups and 10 passes defended… In his debut against NC Central at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium, Prunty make eight tackles …

The Big South named Prunty its defensive player of the week after the Aggies beat Bryant University 24-13. Prunty had two interceptions and made three tackles in the triumph …

While at Kansas in 2020, Prunty picked up honorable mention Big 12 honors, while also making the 247 Sports True Freshman All-American team. According to A&T’s Web site, he did not allow a touchdown pass in his direction all season, and his 10 breakups tied him for No. 1 among true freshmen nationally … 

Prunty has received a handful of preseason All-America mentions thus far. The Bluebloods named him to their third-team All-America list for defensive backs. Meanwhile, HERO Sports FCS listed Prunty among its top 50 returning defensive backs, ranking him the No. 9 cornerback/safety …

NC A&T leaves the Big South and will join the ultra-competitive, 15-team Colonial Athletic Association this season. The Aggies will have non-conference games against UAB and NC Central before jumping into CAA play at Elon on Sept. 16.
