Throughout the rest of the summer, NC Football News will post profiles of players expected to be among the best at their positions this season. Today, we look at one the top returning defensive players from Division III Brevard, which competes in the USA South Conference.

Toby Naylor

Class: Senior

Measurables: 6-2, 220 pounds

Hometown: Southampton England

High School: SGS Bristol

Major: Exercise Science

Notes: Returning graduate linebacker named USA South All-Conference second team last season … Has gardnered multiple all-conference honors in his career as well as D3Football.com All-Region second team in 2021…

Responsible for 200 tackles over a four-year career (35 total games) … Earned 78 tackles a year ago (7.8 per contest) as Brevard posted a 5-5 record — with 10.5 tackles-for-loss, a pair of sacks, one interception and one forced fumble…

Mentioned in an article earlier this spring at AmericanFootballInternational.com under the headline, European Players I’d Like To See Return to Europe. Writes author Matt Bressington: “He’s a solid tackler with a high motor and vision through the blocks, although he’s not a lightning-fast sideline-to-sideline player, he has enough speed to cut off a RB’s angles. I believe him to be a target for a possible London ELF team if it ever comes to volition, if not, teams in Germany have been recruiting younger, less European Experienced guys before they make the step to the ELF. Austria, Sweden, and Finland could also be avenues to his next football opportunities.”

Brevard kicks off the new season Sept. 2 at home against Warner.
