One of the top high school quarterbacks in Mississippi committed to Appalachian State earlier this week.

Tupelo High senior Noah Gillon gave a verbal pledge to the Mountaineers following a visit to Boone this past weekend for the Old Dominion game.

Gillon (6-3, 180) is considered a three-star signal caller, according to 247Sports. Gillon has thrown for more than 5,000 yards and 56 TD passes during his high school career, per App State Mania, in the 247Sports network. This season, he’s piloting an undefeated Tupelo squad, throwing for 1,351 yards and 17 TDs after nine contests.

247Sports considers Gillon the fourth-ranked senior quarterback in Mississippi and the 130th best QB nationally. He had offers from three other Sun Belt programs: Arkansas State, Louisiana-Monroe and Troy. He also reported offers from Austin Peay and Ohio.

Gillon has had seven games with at least two touchdown throws and two with three TDs this season. He didn’t have an interception until game seven and has just three on the season.

Appalachian State previously had a quarterback commitment from Jett Niu of Lehi, Utah. But Niu decommitted in September and instead traded his pledge to Oklahoma State of the Big 12.

App State has the fourth-best recruiting class in the Sun Belt Conference, according to 247Sports, behind Georgia State, Troy and Louisiana. The Mountaineers have 11 commits and are ranked 90th in D1 college football, per 247Sports.
