Davidson College has added a verbal commitment from an in-state quarterback to its 2025 recruiting class.
Mount Tabor senior Lane Albright announced his pledge for the Wildcats over the weekend on social media. Davidson extended its offer earlier this month.
Albright (6-1, 175) has thrown for more than 3,300 yards in his high school career, with 38 TD passes. He also has rushed for 424 yards and five more scores. He spent his sophomore and junior seasons at R.J. Reynolds before transferring to Mount Tabor in the summer of 2023.
Albright is 46-of-81 this season for 681 yards and seven touchdown passes, helping Mount Tabor to a 3-1 start with double-digit wins over North Forsyth, Page and West Forsyth.
He had throws of 70 and 50 yards in the sesaon opener against Grimsley. He rushed for a 42-yard touchdown against Page.
Last season, the Spartans finished 8-5, getting hot toward the end of the season with a six-game win streak. That included two playoff wins before Mount Tabor fell to Butler.
Albright threw for 1787 yards and 25 scores in 2023, with only six interceptions. In a 48-26 playoff win over Davie County, Albright put up huge numbers, throwing for 267 yards and four TDs.
Davidson competes in Division I football in the FCS subdivision. The Wildcats are members of the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League, and under coach Scott Abell have contended yearly for the league crown (winning it in the spring 2021 and fall 2021 seasons).
