Who is the new head coach of the Shaw football team?
Lamar Manigo takes over as head coach of the Shaw University football team heading into the 2025 season. He replaces Adrian Jones, who held the position for eight years. Shaw introduced Manigo in January. He comes to Shaw after a stint as offensive coordinator at Virginia State. Read more about the new Bears’ head coach HERE.
Where does Shaw play its home football games?
Though Shaw University is located in downtown Raleigh, the Bears play home football games at the 8,500-seat Durham County Memorial Stadium. The multi-purpose stadium hosted Shaw football teams from 2007-18 and resumed being the Bears’ home turf in 2022. The CIAA championship game will be held at Durham County Memorial Stadium in November 2025.
When is Shaw University’s 2025 Homecoming Game?
The Shaw Bears will host Johnson C. Smith on Saturday, Oct. 18 for homecoming. The game will be played at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
When was the last time Shaw football won the CIAA championship?
Shaw football had a dominant run in the conference in the late 2000s, winning CIAA titles in 2007, 2008 and again in 2010. Shaw has not been back to the CIAA championship game since the 2010 crown.
When is the Shaw vs. St. Augustine’s football game?
Alas, the rivalry series between Raleigh’s HBCUs — Shaw and St. Augustine’s — is on pause indefinitely. St. Augustine’s has not fielded a football team since 2023 as the school works through financial and accreditation issues.
