Shaw’s India Pulphus made history on Saturday in the Bears’ college football game against visiting Virginia State.

Pulphus became the first female to kick an extra point in Shaw and CIAA history.
Her attempt came in the final minute of the Bears’ 38-19 loss at Durham County Memorial Stadium. Silas Cruse had just found the end zone on a one-yard run.
Pulphus is a redshirt sophomore from Cleveland, OH. She also competes on the Shaw track and soccer teams. She kicked for her high school team as a senior.
Saturday marked her first attempted kick in a game. Shaw will host Johnson C. Smith next Saturday, Oct. 7.
