Statesville wide receiver/defensive back Ameiyon Jehahj Sherrill has posted a lot of Old Dominion football content on his X account over the past few months.

In mid-September the senior standout received an offer from the Monarchs, who play in the Sun Belt Conference. On Thursday, Sherrill announced his pledge to join the ODU program in 2025.

The Monarchs will be getting a speedster with breakaway, explosive-play ability.

Sherrill earned all-conference honors a year ago in the 3A Western Foothills. This past spring, he was voted the Western Foothills track and field athlete of the year. He runs a 4.3 in the 40-yard dash.

Sherrill earned 511 yards in receptions with six touchdown a year ago, according to Statesville’s stats on MaxPreps.com. This season, through Sept. 20 games, Sherrill has 11 catches for 144 yards and three TDs, per MaxPreps (Statesville has not updated stats for the past two contests). Defensively, he had 12 tackles and two interceptions through Sept. 20.

Sherrill reported several D1 and D2 offers, including from Charlotte, Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Maine and Lenoir-Rhyne.

Statesville owns a 5-1 record, 2-1 in conference play heading into this week. The Greyhounds are set to play at West Iredell on Friday night.
