Three top-seeded teams earned comfortable victories Thursday night as the second round of the North Carolina high school football playoffs got under way.
Reidsville cruised to a 42-7 win over West Stokes in the 2A West bracket, while Robbinsville earned a 40-7 triumph over Mountain Island Charter in the 1A West tournament. The other top seed to play Thursday, Tarboro, beat Northampton County 48-0 in the 1A East bracket.
Two No. 2 seeds also advanced with Thursday wins. Salisbury topped Maiden 40-0 in the 2A West. Northeastern blitzed Holmes 55-28 in the 2A East.
Shelby, seeded seventh in the 2A West, beat Lincolnton 41-21. Lakewood, seventh in the 1A East, edgedd Perquimans 35-28.
The rest of the second-round games are scheduled for Friday night across the state.
