Brevard football will get a later start to the 2024 season than most other teams in the state.
The Tornados will kick off the new campaign on Saturday, Sept. 14 when Hampden-Sydney visits Ives-Lemel Family Field. That’s two weeks after the traditional Labor Day weekend start for most teams and one week after a number of D2 and D3 schools will launch their seasons.
Brevard’s 2024 slate includes 10 contests, including a full, eight-game slate against USA South Conference foes.

The first two games will be at home. Reigning USA South champion Bethel will visit in week two, Sept. 21. Bethel posted a 7-1 league mark and 9-2 overall record a year ago, edging Huntingdon for the conference crown. Hampden-Sydney was 6-4, 4-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
“With these early formidable challenges, we must establish a winning trajectory from game one,” coach Bill Khayat said in the school’s schedule-release announcement. “To that end, I am pleased to report that many of our record-setting offensive and defensive players will be returning to provide their invaluable contributions to not only attaining another winning conference record but also to claiming the ultimate prize, the USA South crown.”
Other home opponents for Brevard include Greensboro, LaGrange and Methodist. The Tornados will go on the road to play Maryville, Southern Virginia, Huntingdon, North Carolina Wesleyan and Kentucky Christian.
Greensboro will serve as Brevard’s homecoming opponent on Saturday, Oct. 12. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff. The Tornados own a 6-0 all-time record against the Pride.
Senior day will be Saturday, Nov. 2 against Methodist.
Khayat will enter his seventh season as Brevard’s coach. The Tornados finished 5-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play last season.
