Wingate’s Trevor Grant named SAC ‘Man Of The Year’

ROCK HILL, SC – The South Atlantic Conference announced its 2023-24 Women and Man of the Year Awards on Monday, August 12. Wingate’s Trevor Grant was named the SAC Man of the Year.

Grant, a member of Wingate’s football team as well as the baseball and track and field squads during his career, earned a 3.97 undergrad and 3.75 graduate GPA. He helped the Bulldogs to NCAA Playoff appearances in 2019 and 2022 while being the team captain in 2023.

He earned national recognition as a two-time William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist and earned a $10,000 NCAA Post-graduate scholarship. He was an Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee in 2023 and was a two-time SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, he was a four-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

Off the field, Grant was Wingate’s Grand Marshal in 2022 and published business honors researched to the Journal of Finance and Accountancy (Volume 32) in 2023. He was in the Wingate Honors Program from 2020-23 and an eight-time selection to the Wingate University President’s List while being named to the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll four times.

His leadership includes being named to the Football Team Leadership Council from 2019-24 and a SAAC representative from 2020-23. He volunteered at the Matthews Help Center and Academic Resource Center at Wingate while also spending time with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes over a two-year span.

He also was a volunteer coach for Cuthbertson High School’s Track and Field and Football teams.
