At NC Football News, our mission is simple: to spotlight and celebrate football greatness at every level in our state. One of the ways we’re bringing that mission to life in 2025 is by launching a new slate of statewide player awards — honoring the top performers from across North Carolina’s college football programs.
At season’s end, we plan to name three top honors:
- North Carolina College Football Offensive Player of the Year
- North Carolina College Football Defensive Player of the Year
- North Carolina College Football Specialist of the Year
Any player on the roster of any one of North Carolina’s 33 college programs will be eligible for the awards, encompassing the FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NJCAA (junior college) levels.
But we won’t wait until December to celebrate excellence. Every week during the season, we’ll recognize standout performers with:
- Offensive Player of the Week
- Defensive Player of the Week
- Special Teams Player of the Week
Here’s the 2025 Awards Timeline:
📅 Mid-August: Preseason Award Watch Lists released
📅 Weeks 1–14: Weekly award winners announced
📅 Mid-November: Season-ending finalists unveiled
📅 Late December / Early January: Official award winners crowned
